The Top of The Stairs is a private 1-bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor of our home. The space has been designed so that our guests can enter our property through a private gate and then enter the home through a private door. Once you are inside, you'll enter directly into a staircase. There are 38 steps required from ground level up to the loft - it's fun and refreshing!
The staircase has connecting doors on the 1st and 2nd floors that open into our private living space. These will be locked from our side and can also be locked from your side after you arrive.
The space has three separate mini-split HVAC systems (separately zoned heat and AC) that you can set to your preference and are more than adequate to heat the space or to keep it cool on a hot summer day. The bedroom has a comfortable king size bed and connects to a small laundry room/closet that you are welcome to use. The bathroom has a shower only (no tub). The kitchen features granite countertops and is well-equipped (and if you need any specialty kitchen items, we're right downstairs). The living area features a large sectional couch and a 60" TV. Both TVs will require guests to sign into their own streaming accounts. The living room TV has a digital antenna/tuner with access to some basic live channels.
Our story: we purchased this home in 2020 and completed our renovations in 2023. We saw the potential in the huge attic space - unfinished since the house was built in the 1890s - and made plans to convert it into a 1-bedroom guest suite space. During the renovation, we tackled the third floor first, and then we actually lived in this third floor space for several months while we renovated the first floor kitchen. We live on the 1st and 2nd floors now with our two kids and our dog. We use the space for friends and family when they visit and we're excited to rent it to guests when it's available!

We live on the 1st and 2nd floors of the home with our kids and our dog. There is insulation sprayed into the floor between the 2nd and 3rd floors (to reduce noise), but it still is an old house and you may hear our kids running around and making noise when they get up and go to bed (roughly between 7-8 AM and 7-9 PM). Otherwise we'll usually be on the 1st floor where you won't hear us. Our dog is usually home all day and he will probably bark if he hears you at the exterior door. Please try to be quiet when coming in and walking up/down the steps.
One reserved parking spot is included at the back of the property. If you plan on having visitors or need more than one parking spot, please reach out to us.

This is our home, but your space is fully private and has a private entrance. We love to meet our guests and chat, but we also understand if you're busy and have places to be! Please reach out if there's anything we can do to help during your stay - we're right downstairs.

Cancellation Policy: One hundred percent (100.00%) of the total booking charges (less $25.00 cancellation fee) will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 30 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. Fifty percent (50.00%) of the total booking charges (less $25.00 cancellation fee) will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 14 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 14 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued.
